Health and Safety
The duty of Care for the health and safety of our people, customers and the public is of prime importance to the NIS Group.
We are currently assisting a number of our customers to achieve a ZERO HARM policy by 2012.
Our current level of training includes:
- Timed served apprentices trained through IETA to NVQ level 3
- CSCS card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme)
- PASMA card (Prefabricated Access Suppliers' and Manufacturers' Association)
- IPAF card (International Powered Access Federation)
- IOSH certificate (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health) (all management)
- CITB site management training course. (Construction Industry Training Board) (all supervisors)
- Annual health and safety review with 3 to 4 hour seminar and exam (all employees must and attend and pass)
- Asbestos awareness training (all employees)
- Manual handling training
All our training is undertaken by NIS training and our Health and Safety systems are managed by Carney Consultancy.
All our major sites have a 6 week site inspection by our independent Health Safety Manager with a report issued to our customer and the main contractor on request.
Recent investment for further health and safety
NIS Group have recently invested over 50k in a fleet of Bravi Leonardo Mewps, with appropriate transport, to remove the problems associated with MST’s. The Leonardos allow our employees to reach the work face more quickly as they do not need to to worry about toeboards, out riggers, correct height of safety rails, locked brakes, or the need to remove a gate to allow the MST to be moved to another location. All these necessities when using MST’s inevitably lead to corners being cut which can lead to an accident. Removing the problem removes the risk.
