Managing Director Ian Marsden, is currently in training for the London Marathon.
Ian started running in 2007 after hearing that his father had Hereditary Bowel Cancer. His training encouraged him to enter the Great North Run, running for the ‘’Beating Bowel Cancer’’ charity. He raised nearly £4000 from this event. Seriously bitten by the running bug he immediately decided to apply for the London Marathon, taking part for the same charity.
Bowel cancer is the second biggest cancer killer in the UK. Only lung cancer kills more people. 35,500 people will be diagnosed with the disease this year, and around half of these will die.
But the good news is - it is one of the most curable cancers if caught early enough.
Beating Bowel Cancer is helping with awareness and helping cure people before its too late.
Ian’s father died from bowel cancer in January 2008 at the age of 80 having survived bowel cancer 42 years earlier. He left behind a wife, 4 children, 10 grandchildren and 1 Great Grand Child.
